This boat trip offered excellent panoramic views of the coastline and the harbour of Varna. The reconnaissance trip ended at the beach of Asparuchovo where the Silkroad Outdoor team met the last local fishermen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Living in a small colony of shacks close to the sea, these fishermen have cultivated a spirit of independence and self-sufficiency. Although most of them need a second job to survive economically, they are people of the sea by heart and soul. The team enjoyed the hospitality of Georgi Dimitrov and Nasko Droglev, two fishermen who like to pamper their guests with ice-cold Bulgarian beer and delicious fresh seafood.

It should be just a brief market test but it turned out to be quite an encouraging success. A pile of Silkroad-CD´s, brought to Kathmandu by Bruno Baumann and Michael Strohmann on their latest trip to Nepal, was sold out after a couple of days.
