Expedition well equipped for "Mobility of the Future"
They will be used for a long distance trip from Varna to Istanbul, for example, thus proving that it is possible to use electro-mobility not just for inner-city or short range purposes.
The "Future of Mobility" is one of the central topics of the project Silkroad experiences. Hans Koopmann, head of Raleigh´s prototype department, did a lot of handwork himself in order to optimize the bikes´ performance. Sven Strube, E-Bike-expert for the Silkroad team, and Silkroad Outdoor Chief Michael Strohmann had a meeting with Raleigh´s top management before taking over the bikes at the Derby Cycle factory in Cloppenburg (Germany).

Prem Dorji Lama from West-Nepal joined the Silkroad Outdoor Team. In May 2010, Prem stood on top of Mount Everest, being the first climber from his home region Humla Karnali to reach the summit of the world´s highest mountain.

It should be just a brief market test but it turned out to be quite an encouraging success. A pile of Silkroad-CD´s, brought to Kathmandu by Bruno Baumann and Michael Strohmann on their latest trip to Nepal, was sold out after a couple of days.
