Silkroad-CD sold out quickly
The CD, produced by Bruno Baumann and filled with inspiring music of the Silkroad Ensemble, was placed on the shelves of one of Kathmandu´s top music shops, Sur Sudha Music, located right in the heart of Thamel´s busy and vibrating shopping district. Although there hadn´t been any advertisement, fans of world music soon showed up in the shop and bought the Silkroad CD. "The precious design including a nice booklet and especially the quality of the music obviously attracted many customers", said Bijaya Vaidya, owner of the shop and passionate musician himself.
Bijaya Vaidya is an established Sitar virtuoso and perhaps the most travelled musical ambassador of Nepal. He has performed in hundreds of concerts in major cities around the globe, most performances completely dedicated to charity and fund raising for social projects.
The story of this successful encounter in Kathmandu will be continued. The Silkroad-CD will now be produced in larger numbers especially for the Nepal music market. And Bijaya Vaidya is going to join the Silkroad Ensemble in 2012 when he goes to Europe for a series of more than 20 concerts in Germany, France and Belgium.
