Successful Test Drive with Raleigh E-Bikes
"We didn´t have any problems, not even on rough dust roads", Sven Strube reported after crossing the finish line in Berlin. Sven and Sören tested two S-pedelecs developed and customized by Raleigh especially for the needs of the Silkroad expeditions. "We have had an nergy consumption worth 40 Cent for each bike", stated a very pleased Sven Strube. "With a little solar carport, you can produce this amount of energy in 30 minutes." Since Sven Strube and some Bulgarian volunteers will go for a long distance ride from Varna to Istanbul on Raleigh e-bikes as part of this year´s Silkroad Experiences event program, it was important to test the expedition bikes thoroughfully.
After their arrival in Berlin, the Strube brothers had a meeting with Stephan Schwarzkopff, chariman of the Federal Association for Solar Mobility in Germany. The association is highly interested in the "green" activities of the Silkroad project, focussing on new forms of mobility.
