He has met, for example, one of the last "old school" fisherman in Varna, Georgi Dimitrov. Georgi is still weaving his own nets for fishing and his parttime residence is a small hut close to the beach, where he served fresh seafood for his guest from Germany. "Georgi invited me to spend a night in that cabin and to go out early morning with him for fishing", Strohmann reported. As part of the program "Talents of the Silk Road", Georgi Dimitrov shall show his specific and rare skills in net-weaving to the visitors of the Silkroad event in Varna.

Strohmann also met two outstanding musicians from Varna whom he invited to become part of the Silkroad Ensemble. That multicultural ensemble is going to give three concerts in Varna´s famous Sea Garden Park. Nikolay Doktorov is a true master on the kaval, a traditional type of flute from Bulgaria (www.ndoctorov.com). Stratsimir Pavlov is a well-known piano and keyboard player who can be met on facebook, for example.

Kalinka Popstefanova, director of youth activities and school affairs for the municipality of Varna, finally took Strohmann to a start-up business in the countryside south of Varna. Both visited a small company that just begun to fabricate yurts for Bulgarian and international markets. The yurt as mobile form of housing and lodging is of specific significance to the Silkroad project.
